Already we’re into the middle of September. You may notice your skin changing from summer.
Now is the time to get to work on cleaning up sun damage like sun spots, age spots, and pregnancy mask. You can do this with a combination of exfoliants, retinol and vitamin C.
At night time alternate retinol, vitamin C, and a glycolic acid skincare product. Use one of these each night. If you experience sensitivity or peeling, rest the skin every second night by using a moisturizer. You’ll have to be patient and persistent — uneven skin tone is hard to beat. This process will take weeks.
While you’re at it, re-evaluate your daily skincare products. At this time of year, do you need a cleanser that is less for oily skin and more for dryness? Do you need a richer day time moisturizer? Have you noticed that your skin, overall, has seemed drier the last few days? It might be time to add an omega 3 supplement to your diet.
Just as we need to start swapping shorts for pants and bringing light mitts along on early morning walks, we need to attend to the seasonal needs of our skin.
