FAQ
Is Therapie Silk and Bamboo Pillowcase high quality?
Yes, it’s the highest quality. Therapie uses 100% pure Mulberry silk, at the most face-friendly weight of 16 momme, in a charmeuse weave. It’s made with 300 thread count pure bamboo in a rayon weave.
Therapie fabrics are all OEKO-TEX Certified. Each pillowcase is carefully hand inspected and packaged at our HQ in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan.
What about satin?
Satin is actually a weave, like charmeuse. Polyester is made in a satin weave and has largely taken over the name ‘satin’. If you sleep on a ‘satin’ pillowcase, it’s not silk. It’s made out of polyester.
Polyester satin feels soft and slippery but it doesn’t breathe. It’s human-made. It sleeps hot.
What about thread count?
Interestingly, in the silk world, thread count doesn’t actually matter. Momme is to silk what thread count is to cotton. Momme measures the weight of the silk. The higher the momme, the heavier and thicker the silk.
Our momme is 16. This momme is the silkiest to the touch on the face or scalp. It has the best slip, slide, and glide for skin, hair, and lash extensions. Mommes higher than this are good for durability. They’re best suited to clothes, purses and home decor like throw cushions. On the other hand, lower mommes are of inferior quality.
The thread count of our pure bamboo is 300 in a rayon weave.
What size of Pillowcase do I need?
To determine the size of your pillow, measure the longest seam.

A Standard pillowcase will fit a queen size pillow. (This is why they are sometimes referred to as a Standard/Queen.) Know, though, that the weight of your head will squish approximately one inch of Queen pillow out of the open end of a Standard pillowcase.
How do I keep my pillowcase fresh and clean?
Hand washing is best because it preserves the luster of silk and the seams. It’s also easy!
Turn your pillowcase silk side in. Then soak it in lukewarm, soapy water for 5 to 20 minutes. After that, rinse your pillowcase by submerging it in cold water for a minute or two. Finally, squeeze the water out, lay the pillowcase flat on a dry towel and roll up the towel to squeeze out the moisture again. Do not twist the fabric or wring out the item.
Machine washing works too.
Turn your pillowcase silk side in. Place it in a Mesh Laundry Bag for Delicates. Then, wash it on a gentle cycle with lukewarm water — alone or with a small load of like colors. Do not bleach.
Drying.
Hang your pillowcase to dry or lay flat. If it’s still damp before bedtime, let it tumble dry alone, silk side in, for 5 minutes.
Stains.
Gently massage stain remover into dry silk with your fingertips. Then let the stain remover soak in for at least 5 minutes before washing. Never scrub or rub silk, wet or dry.
If makeup stains do not fully come out of your pillowcase, flip your pillow over when you are not sleeping on it, so the beautiful bamboo side is face up.
