Three Types of Naps

I’ve heard that people fit into three categories of naps.

The first group doesn’t nap. These are the people who can’t nap or don’t like napping. It just doesn’t work for them.
These are the ‘never nappers’.

The second group is the cat nappers. These are the people who can catch a few minutes of shut eye and awake feeling refreshed.
They fall asleep quickly and easily during these power naps. Usually, they can nap anywhere. Often, they’ll nap right through TV noise, conversations, a room with all of the lights on, and others moving about.
These cat nappers will sleep for as little as 8 or 9 minutes and as much as a half hour. Some of them can even wake themselves up after a certain number of minutes or at a specific time.
I’ve always been jealous of these lucky individuals.

The last group of nappers need a big nap window and conditions have to be just right. They’ll often sleep for over an hour.
These are the ones that need to be careful. Sometimes they can’t nap successfully. It’s too light, too cold, too hot – some condition isn’t quite right.
Sometimes they oversleep and feel even worse than before they napped.

This is the category that I fall into. I love naps. If I’m lucky, I’ll get one in early afternoon on a Saturday. That’s ideal.
But, conditions have to be just right for me to nap successfully and if I over-nap, I feel awful.

Let me know what category of napping you fit into! 💤
