The chaos and quick pace of maximizing fun in the Summer sun has dipped and has been replaced with the chaos and quick pace of back to school.
Some are putting wee ones into primary or elementary. Some are supporting from the side as their grandbabies get prepped and positioned at high school. Some have ones that aren’t wee anymore that are headed off to college or university whether that’s across the country, across the province or across the kitchen table.
Once everyone gets sorted and settled, Fall is the perfect time to refocus. Sink into the new rhythym. Hit your stride. Then take that time to refocus.
You take great care of everyone from your parents to your spouse to your kids and even the people you work with. Have you been refilling your personal well by taking great care of yourself?
This doesn’t have to mean expensive and time-intensive spa time. Taking great care of yourself means the little things that give you a moment of peace here, a dab of calm there, and a bit of bliss here. All of those little things – all of those pleasurable or peace filled moments – add up to great gains in the act of taking care of yourself.
Maybe it’s taking an extra three seconds to really look at your cat curled up in his funny or adorable sleeping posture. Maybe it’s actually paying attention to the taste of that delicious, hot cup of coffee. Maybe it’s taking an extra whiff of that dynamite cologne that hubby wears. It might be paying attention to the feel of bubbles and muscle soothing hot water on your skin as you slowly slip into that tub.
All of these moments of awareness add up to bits of inner peace and bits of calm and these amount to taking care of yourself. So, refocus, my friends. Pay attention to these golden moments. Focusing on them means refocusing on the things that matter.
