Almond milk before bed? How come?
Did you know that almond milk has the same amount of calcium as regular milk?
Did you know that almond milk also contains the amino acid, tryptophan?
These two little nuggets of information could hold great importance for your sleep. How?
Drinking warmed up dairy milk is believed to help sleep because the heat helps the body access the tryptophan in the milk.
Calcium helps the brain utilize tryptophan to manufacture the well known, sleep-inducing substance called melatonin.
Not a milk drinker? I support that choice. Drinking dairy milk can exacerbate acne if you’re prone to it. But what if you want to get some zzzz? Warm up the almond milk before bed to get that calcium / tryptophan melatonin production.
Sleep tight.
