Is shut-eye still eluding you? Here is a different method for getting that busy brain of yours to sleep.
If you fret that you are not sleeping or count the hours, you’ll get more anxious, frustrated or irritated. Instead, think happy, loving thoughts toward your sleep. In your mind, repeat these statements:
I like sleep.
I choose to sleep.
I deserve to sleep.
I enjoy sleep.
Feel the positive emotions that these statements reflect. Feel a lightness and anticipation as you get your mind to say these sentiments over and over. Slow your breath until you are breathing comfortably.
When your thoughts start to get disjointed and wander off, this is good. You are approaching sleep. If you can, go with it. If you are not quite there yet, gently pull your (less) busy brain back to the happy statements about sleep.
May you sleep well.
