I opened Results in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan over ten years ago. I am passionate – and kind of obsessed – with skincare treatments and products. About five years in, I talked to my husband about real, pure silk pillowcases.
I’d been experimenting with silk and satin pillowcases and without a doubt, real, pure silk was the way to go. Satin was cheap but it slept hot.
Real, pure silk was expensive as all get out.
But I loved how my hair looked. More shine. Less frizz for my curls.
I loved how it felt against my skin. Especially since I still get painful breakouts sometimes, even being middle aged.
I found it soothing to my skin and I liked the idea that as I was sleeping tonight, I was reducing chances of sleep creases ten years from now.
What I didn’t like was chasing my pillow in the night.
I didn’t like tugging my case back on to my pillow.
I found my silk sleep to be more disturbed than usual.
So, as I talked to my husband, I told him how a real, pure silk pillowcase needed a different backside to grip the bed under my head.
I told him how it needed a secret third panel, under the silk side, to keep the case on the pillow.
I talked about the crazy sustainability of bamboo and how cotton was one of the most chemically sprayed crops on the planet.
I shared what I had learned about how bamboo wicks moisture in this unique way.
It makes it good for women who find themselves having ‘personal summers’ (thank you for this expression, Ruby) in the middle of the night.
My husband said: You should do this.
And so I did.
It’s been over five years now since we created this crazy little Canadian company called Therapie.
My goal is for every Canadian woman to be sleeping on this real, pure silk and real, pure bamboo pillowcase so they get the best possible beauty sleep.
